The library became a pretty important part in my life very early on in Elementary and Middle School. Reading was a safe place to go to in my head at times when home wasn't very stable. Reading and having access to books and a printer really helped me to excel in school when I didn't have support or resources at home. I think that really set me up for success to go on to college and get my AAs and BA degrees.

Now as a mom I get to take my kiddo to ASL storytime, music time and other library... Continue reading

    You Can Read Almost Anywhere!!

by Danette, about 1 month ago

When I was little, my father read to me every night before I went to sleep. But he never read children's books. He read to me from his magazines: Prevention, Times, and sometimes the newspaper. It didn't matter what he read. It only matter that he read. This instilled in me a deep love of reading. You are never bored it you can read. Public libraries make reading accessible to everyone. I personally check out ebooks and love that I can lose myself in a book at any time. My county library is in Valley Center and it is welcoming... Continue reading

    Something for everyone

by Grateful , about 1 month ago
The library is a safe third space that offers much more than just books. It's a place for babies and children to start exploring the world, a place to learn through programs and events, a place to meet new people, a place to volunteer, and a place to just sit without having to spend money. It can sadly be taken for granted in this high speed/high tech world. But it's an invaluable part of the community.

    Summer time at the library

by Sandyeggo, about 1 month ago

Before my son started preschool, we spent a lot of time at the library attending toddler story times. They were so thoughtfully prepared and genuinely fun. I appreciated very much this wonderful way for him to interact with other kids and the get to read a variety of books. We especially loved our summer at the library, particularly the 4S Ranch location. I still remember those visits so fondly. Now we go back to visit, this time to borrow books. We love the library, thank you for all you do.

I love to visit libraries because they make us feel welcome, they offer free services such as book, movies, computers, printers, help with school and many other services. My daughters love to come and pick out books to read. It's always a fun experience. I appreciate everything they offer. Thank you to all the people who work and support the libraries!

Fallbrook Library- North County Mountain Dulcimer Group

by Laurie Traylor, about 1 month ago

The Fallbrook library brings together staff, patrons and community In unique ways. The Fallbrook library is an important center for community building relationships through education and the arts. For the North County Mountain Dulcimer group, people come from all over San Diego county to be a part of a specialized and little known music group that focuses on an instrument called the “Appalachian” or “Mountain” dulcimer. This is important because mountain dulcimer is considered to be the only acoustic string instrument developed in the United States. It is believed to be developed in Appalachia around the 1700’s by Immigrants who... Continue reading

    The Library is Community

The Library is Community. It is where you can go in any city in the country and be part of something.

A library offers a place to ponder and a place to wander. People meet, play and find safety in a library. It is akin to the post office in its history dating back to our roots.

Everyone has a connection to a library and it is as important as community parks in making a community cohesive. It's also a place where you can visually lay eyes on your tax dollars and know that you have contributed to someone of... Continue reading

My library is invaluable to me because I drive a lot and I love to listen to audiobooks.

I would be lost without it.

    Love the Library

I am a huge supporter of the library, particularly the Solana Beach library. I always check out books as opposed to buying them.

One of the programs I really like is the Hot Right Now program. It allows you to check out popular or new books without a long wait time.

My only criticism: the library is not open on Saturday. I think all libraries should be open either Saturday or Sunday for those people that work full time and cannot get to the library during the week.

    e-books rule!

by CJ, about 1 month ago
I am in my 80s and it is.difficult to read without backlighting and larger print. Using Libby and my e- reader I can access thousands of ebooks through the Lemon Grove library, including many of my favorite writers. Having taught myself to read at age.four by memorizing one.word at a time, until my older.sisters.caught on and taught me, books have always been a constant joy in my life. I am so.grateful that the libraries are there, even remotely, for.those with vision and mobility problems.
