I get to be the fun Mom

by Sheena, about 1 month ago

Eleven years ago, I was a brand-new mom in a new state, with no family or friends nearby except my husband. I felt incredibly alone. One day, I found a local library story time for my baby and me, and it changed everything. That library became our lifeline. It gave us connection, friendship, and precious time together.

When my daughter was later diagnosed with Autism, the library quickly became our safe, quiet sanctuary. It was a place that felt welcoming, calm, and accessible — and it didn’t cost anything. We spent countless afternoons there, meeting friends, relaxing, and simply being... Continue reading

I started using Santee library in April 2025. I love the ability to nurture my newfound love of reading through all their available titles. The staff is always so helpful and friendly. I read 50 books before the end of 2025!

The Vista Library has always been a safe space for me and my family. We always are stopping in to get our books and just spend time in the welcoming space. The activities hosted are always fun and I'm grateful for everything the librarians do! Please keep our libraries around forever!

I use Libby every day. It makes it so effortless to check out and return books. Especially because I have little kids so the digital version allow us to read more books.

    A Community Space

by Paula J., about 1 month ago
I moved to San Diego in 2022 because of the military and didn't really know anyone as I was raised on the East Coast. I was glad to find a calm place to go and kind of get a sense of community. My local library provided that much needed space. I am able to use the computers or bring my own and still get work done while not being alone. There librarians are always super nice and friendly. I enjoy the showcases they sometimes display- like for The Holocust Remembrance- which tell the lives of local residents. I also appreciate... Continue reading

Public Libraries are a sign of a healthy society

by Don_gamb, about 1 month ago

Public libraries play such an essential role in ensuring our public has free and accessible resources for learning and development. I am a huge fan of the California public library system. I have used them throughout my entire life to study and research. It’s also a way to ensure people and children who aren’t born into wealth have fair access to learning materials. More funds for our public infrastructure, less funds for billionaires and corporations!!!

    The Library

Coming to the Rancho santa Fe Library is always a treat. It is so reminiscent of the time when I was a child and forward to going to the library both at my school as well as to the community library. I always fell at home in a library and even as an adult visiting our small library here in our community it truly is a nostalgic experience. The warm welcome of the staff’ familiar faces and the sense of community create such a tangible experience especially when the world around us is moving too fast. I want to commend... why I love the library

by Mom of readers, about 1 month ago

Reading is my passion. It also lowers my blood pressure, helps me sleep better, and gives me joy!

Took my boys to the library all the time when they were young!

I have always loved the library. It is a risk free (read$$$$) way to try new books!

Love that I can borrow a book online through Libby - audio and written. It’s so much easier and lighter when I travel and we can listen to a book when we road trip.
