A Lifetime of Learning for my Son
by Camille K, about 1 month ago
We've been coming to the library in Encinitas since my son was 2 years old. Now he's 7 and its still one of our favorite places. Its special a special place to watch him discover his love of books of all kinds- but especially Ancient History. That sense of freedom to explore other worlds through books!

A Second Home: Lemon Grove Library
by tgf_127, about 1 month agoThe Lemon Grove Library has always felt like a quiet anchor for me. I spent whole days there, tucked into a corner, moving between books and videos, letting curiosity set the pace. Some days I’d read for hours; other days I’d watch documentaries or talks that opened up new ideas I wouldn’t have found on my own. It was a place where time slowed down and learning felt easy, even comforting. The library gave me space to explore, to be focused without pressure, and to feel connected to a bigger world. It wasn’t just a building—it was a refuge for... Continue reading

Many ways to enjoy the LIbrary
by JHC, about 1 month agoThe Library matters to me, first of all, because I love to read.
I belong to the Tuesday evening book discussion group at the Serra Mesa/Kearny Mesa Library. The staff members there are wonderful about getting books for us. We enjoy getting together once a month at the Library to discuss our book of the month. The Covid shutdown did not stop us. As soon as the Library staff were able to bring books out to us, with the help of the staff we started meeting on Zoom.
The Library has a good collection of audio books on CD that... Continue reading

I LOVE LiBRARIES
by Amy North County, about 1 month agoA library is the best idea ever! A library is a place for the community and people of all ages to gather to share knowledge, ideas, art, creative pursuits, and just relax. A good library tells so much about its town and city, so much so that I have started my own library adventure series... I've made a list of all the libraries in San Diego County and make a day trip to the area to see the library (of course), but also to walk around, explore nearby sites, and go out to a popular spot to eat. I take... Continue reading -

The Sun is Shining in Spring Valley
by SanDiegoSue, about 1 month agoI love my local library. The Spring Valley branch is terrific.
Lots of kids use this branch due to its proximity to the school. But you don't just see kids here, but the entire community. It's a wonderful mix of people. The access to the internet, the various programs offered are awesome.
The staff here are amazing. They are warm, helpful, friendly and professional. The techs are especially hard working; and the librarians very knowledgeable. Don't be shy about asking questions.
Overall, a very necessary and welcome part of our neighborhood.

VC Library: Hidden Gem
by Rebecca , about 1 month agoI am one of three instructors who teach yoga classes at the Valley Center library. There are people of all ages and abilities who take advantage of these classes for a myriad of reasons. It is so fulfilling to see people from our community reducing stress, becoming stronger and more confident, being able to gain or maintain mobility and flexibility as well as having something fun to do that is actually good for them right here in the town where we live. I am honored to be a part of this amazing program. There is also a Zumba Class that... Continue reading -

access to a bigger library than my area has
by penny, about 1 month agoI use my local library and my sdcl.org account to request books from other county libraries, SD city library, and 3 university libraries in the county. I appreciate that I do not have to drive to any library than my local one. I am very grateful for this service, and tell the librarian so every time i check out a requested book! -

The Magic Card
by Jo Stahnke, about 1 month agoThe signature was shaky, but legible. My name on that library card at age five enabled me to see places, have adventures, and meet people that I would never have been able to do in person. Now it's a bar code and a computerthat allows the same experiences, and I am a better person because of the library.

Finding Light Between the Book Shelves
by Jessica, about 1 month agoThe library is where healing began, it was more than books. As a new mother with two kiddos under the age of two, the library became a safe space and a place to breathe. Not only was I learning to be a new mother, I was faced with the unfortunate reality of living with postpartum depression. During this difficult time, the library provided a schedule of activities for my children. From bilingual baby story time to mommy and me yoga, to baby sign language and music time. Even on the days when we missed an activity, my boys and I... Continue reading -
