The library became a pretty important part in my life very early on in Elementary and Middle School. Reading was a safe place to go to in my head at times when home wasn't very stable. Reading and having access to books and a printer really helped me to excel in school when I didn't have support or resources at home. I think that really set me up for success to go on to college and get my AAs and BA degrees.

Now as a mom I get to take my kiddo to ASL storytime, music time and other library events so she can have the connection with reading and literature that I do. I hope she loves the library as much as I do as she grows up. I hope that books are always a light in the darkness, a hug when needed, and a spark of imagination or interest.

Thank you Libraries and staff for always being there when I needed and for having so many great resources for the community.

You Can Read Almost Anywhere!!

When I was little, my father read to me every night before I went to sleep. But he never read children's books. He read to me from his magazines: Prevention, Times, and sometimes the newspaper. It didn't matter what he read. It only matter that he read. This instilled in me a deep love of reading. You are never bored it you can read. Public libraries make reading accessible to everyone. Collaborating With Seniors to Learn Technology

I have the great fortune of providing technology classes to seniors in Encinitas four times a month! Working alongside the library staff, we’ve identified which topics our community appreciates most and tailored our teaching styles to how they prefer to learn.The staff has been incredible, assisting me with everything from managing sign-ups to designing flyers. Because of this support, we’ve successfully expanded from two iPhone classes a month to including two dedicated Samsung and Motorola sessions as well.
