Workgroup Members Shape Meaningful Change
The Workgroup informs regional government climate initiatives offering a diversity of perspectives. The desired outcome is for communities systemically impacted by environmental injustices to have shared power in advancing sustainability efforts that directly affect their lives.
OSEJ is rooted in the belief that together we can co-create a San Diego region that is in ecological harmony, where community is celebrated and dedicated to the benefit of all. Environmental justice is defined by the State of California as “the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of people of all races, cultures, incomes, and national origins with respect to the development, adoption, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies". OSEJ intentionally and actively uplifts and engages with systemically impacted communities to create environmental resilience, reduce health hazards, and ensure all people have healthy and safe places to live, work, learn, and play.
