Consultation has concluded
On August 24, 2023, the California-American Water Company issued an E. coli Boil Water Advisory for customers in portions of Imperial Beach, the City of Coronado South of Fiddler’s Cove, certain customers within the City of San Diego neighborhoods of Nestor and Otay Mesa West, and portions of Southwest Chula Vista.
The County is gathering information from South County residents, businesses, and partners to understand the level of economic impact resulting from California- American Water Boil Water Advisory. Information collected will be used to help local, state, and federal leaders understand the regional economic impacts of this ongoing issue and assist the County in seeking any available state and/or federal assistance on behalf of the region.
Examples of negative impacts resulting from the California- American Water Boil Water Advisory could include unplanned facility closures, discarding/loss of contaminated food, purchasing of pre-washed or pre-packaged food to continue operations, procurement of single service products (e.g. utensils, plates), procuring potable water, decreased patronage of local businesses or tourism, and closures of schools or childcare centers.
