A Place For Everyone
by Kailee Lucio, about 1 month agoThe library is a special place. It is a place that welcomes everyone, and can transport you anywhere. No matter how small, how unfamiliar, how seemingly insignificant- each story has something vital and worthy to share.
At the library, everyone can take as many slices they'd like. There is always enough, and some left over. A tale shared a thousand times, is always renewed when placed in a new reader's hands. At the library, safety and security is the soil in which new minds can grow. A quiet place, to mull over thoughts and swallow some whole.
At the library... Continue reading

An excellent resource and a comfortable place to visit
by Kevin Clancy, about 1 month agoI am a parent and a scientist. I am also an avid reader. Why do I like the library - because I can get books either physically or through Libby that I can't easily find at the commercial retailers. I can request materials from other libraries and get them - very important in the sciences. I can take course and and I can borrow DVDs so i can be both informaed and entertained. Finally it's a comfortable environment that I can spend time in, especially important when one works from home a lot. Finally libraries still support serendipity and surprise... Continue reading -

Love My Library for Life
by Sherry, about 1 month agoI remember going to the library with my mother when I was young. We would check out 10 "picture books," the limit. She would read them to me or I would look at them and read what I could.I used the library when I was in high school and college. I checked out books to read for pleasure or as resources for reports or term papers.
Now, as an adult, I check out books or audio books on CD. I will learn how to use Libby and other more modern methods for listening to books.
I have also used... Continue reading

Poway library through the generations
by Mommy Joyce , about 1 month agoI have been going to the Poway library for over 30 years. First with my children for borrowing books and story times now with my grandchildren for toddler story time. One grandson asks every day if it’s library day. I’m so lucky to have this library in my neighborhood with the amazing staff and the great way to easily reserve materials. We have become lifetime friends of the library and hope it continues to produce great times for our community. -

Libraries are Magical Places
by MaestraDeb, about 1 month agoLibraries are magical places where all are welcome. A free, safe place where any person young or old can come to learn, meet and grow. The library has always been a special for me, especially when my children were young and we could go there to play, get lost in the books, meet friends and neighbors. It is an incredible resource for every community to have a library. I still go often, as a meeting spot for my work and it fills me with joy to see that the library is as magical as ever. -

Raising a reader
by Kayla, about 1 month agoI grew up surrounded by books - my family bought me books for my birthday and Christmas, and I would come home from library trips with my arms full of books. My mom and aunt loved to read. I remember learning how to read the titles of the books on their shelves and flipping through the pages, excited for when I was finally able to read chapter books like them.
Now that I have a child of own, I read to her every single night. We go to the library a few times a month and she picks out as... Continue reading -

A unique sanctuary in our modern world
by Jimmy, about 1 month agoThe San Diego County Library is truly a unique sanctuary in our modern world—a "third space" where the pressure to spend money or be productive vanishes the moment you walk through the doors. It is one of the few remaining places where you can simply exist, hanging out and getting lost in the labyrinth of your own ideas. Whether you are browsing the stacks for the next great read or searching for a Blu-ray to enjoy, the library provides a physical landscape for curiosity that digital spaces often fail to replicate.

A New Love Story
by Felice ‘Finesse’, about 1 month agoI retraced my family history right in the heart of Imperial Beach which is the local Library after 15 years of marriage. After a fatal end it was important for me to find relative relationships which brought me to realize my children and I had been abused. I’m now where I belong which is in the Downtown San Diego Metro area working a new career as Waitress and surviving to repatch my family relationships and get settled in San Diego, CA. -

Fallbrook Library
by Patricia, about 1 month agoI live in Fallbrook and have a Fallbrook Library card. I enjoy the live music sponsored by the Friends of Fallbrook Library and previous author talks. I used a glass community room to participate in a weekly six-person writing group. Currently, I use Libby to stream books and magazines on my iPad. Libby is great, I use it every day at my own leisure.
