Raising a reader

I grew up surrounded by books - my family bought me books for my birthday and Christmas, and I would come home from library trips with my arms full of books. My mom and aunt loved to read. I remember learning how to read the titles of the books on their shelves and flipping through the pages, excited for when I was finally able to read chapter books like them.

Now that I have a child of own, I read to her every single night. We go to the library a few times a month and she picks out as many books as we can fit in our tote bag. I even have a Little Free Library that my daughter helps curate; we pick out books from the Friends of the Library book stores together.

I'm grateful for our libraries. They make reading accessible for everyone.
