A Place To Grow Together: For Everyone

San Diego County Libraries have been a constant source of stability throughout my life. When my family had limited resources, the Carlsbad libraries became a quiet refuge where I could focus, learn, and imagine a bigger future. Books opened doors, computers kept me on track, and the library became a place where I felt supported. Years later, that same sense of safety continues at the Fallbrook Library, where the little humans in my life curl up with books and grow as readers. Across every stage of my life, San Diego County Libraries have remained a place of belonging, growth, and quiet possibility.

Community connection

The first card I get whenever I move to a place is my library card. To both connect with my community and make use of the available resources (looking for work, places to live, books, periodicals, a quiet place to read, connecting with fellow community members from librarians, security guards, and even strangers! When I was a child, my mother used to take my sibling and me to the library. It was one of the few places where we felt safe and free to nurture our curiosity. My family navigated many challenging and uncertain moments, and knowing that our local library was a place we could return to, a place that felt like home, made bearing those times a little easier.Now, as I enter a new chapter in my leadership journey, I am excited to deepen my service to community.
