Community connection

The first card I get whenever I move to a place is my library card. To both connect with my community and make use of the available resources (looking for work, places to live, books, periodicals, a quiet place to read, connecting with fellow community members from librarians, security guards, and even strangers! I love people and talking with them) Libraries are imperative for any community for a myriad of reasons (I’d have to write a book to expound on this fact! 😅) personally for me for my mental health as reading is not only important but is my number one hobby, and as alluded to above accessing the resources libraries provide. I love reading and have loved reading from childhood. San Diego has a great library system like my other city Minneapolis. And I know I am better off because of this fact. May we always have libraries. A community without a library is a community that is deficient of an important institution. Period.

I listen to borrowed audiobooks at least 4 times a week

I'm grateful for being able to take advantage of tax dollars well spent on providing the library resources so that I can enjoy stories and learnings that I can do thru audiobooks!

San Diego County Libraries have been a constant source of stability throughout my life. When my family had limited resources, the Carlsbad libraries became a quiet refuge where I could focus, learn, and imagine a bigger future.
