A Life-long Love
When I was a child, my mom would bring me to the local library, which had a summer reading program that I loved. After finishing a book, we would go back to the library. I would sit next to the librarian and tell her the story of the book I had read. Each child in the program had a colorful construction paper list up on the library wall, and one by one, the titles of the books I had read were added to my list. I was so happy to see my list getting longer and longer.
As I think about my childhood experience, I imagine what a delightful task it must have been for the librarians to listen to each child tell their version of the stories in the books they had read.
Those childhood experiences at the library nurtured my love of learning, which continues to this day.
