A family time

My wife and I love reading - everything from paperbacks to comics. We love sitting inside and enjoying each other's company away from chaos, while reading books. My 8 year son os an iPad kid. The screen is his life. However, ever since we took the library membership, we have been going frequently to the library to take books and have been taking him along with us as well. Nothing extreme happened overnight, but my son has started reading manga now. He's also less resistant to going to the library since you guys provide such a fun and calm place. I can feel the winds shifting and I'm hopeful he'll turn away from screens more. So know that you matter a lot even on a small scale to families!

Research Family History

My grandfather, William B. Sears was a radio announcer and had television programs in Philadelphia in the 1940's and 1950's. He was also an author and travelled to Africa for the Baha'i Faith. We had records that early in his career in the 1930's, he had written various one act plays that were published by the Dramatic Publishing Company. Through websites like https://www.worldcat.org (A worldwide catalogue) we were able to locate copies of 4 of his one act plays. Three generations of library lovers

I immigrated to San Diego from Mexico at age 5, along with my brother and my parents. My mother decided to get her college degree (the first in her family) and start a new career here. I remember fondly spending time with her at so many different libraries throughout her time studying humanities. She instilled in me not only a love of books, but a love of libraries, including many San Diego County libraries.
