The San Diego region faces a severe housing shortage. Many San Diegans are struggling to find an affordable home. The County of San Diego (County) is committed to developing more affordable housing. One way the County is making this possible is by developing homes on County-owned property that no longer serves its original county purpose. One such site is 3177 Ocean View Blvd.

Developing the 3177 Ocean View Blvd. site into an affordable housing community and health center is a multi-step process. The County is at the very beginning of that process and will soon be requesting proposals from potential

One way the County is making this possible is by developing homes on County-owned property that no longer serves its original county purpose. One such site is 3177 Ocean View Blvd.

Developing the 3177 Ocean View Blvd. site into an affordable housing community and health center is a multi-step process. The County is at the very beginning of that process and will soon be requesting proposals from potential developers for the design and development of the site.

During this step in the process, the County releases a "Request-for-Proposals" or RFP and includes in the RFP specific items developers are required to address in their proposals. For 3177 Ocean View Blvd., these items will include goals for the development of the site, including requirements for 1) communication and engagement with the community during the development process and 2) considerations for a health center space.

Your input during this step will help inform refinements to these two requirements and additional considerations to include in the RFP.

Once a developer is selected, the communications and engagement process will continue throughout future phases of development.
