The County’s annual spend is approximately $2 billion and we are proposing to set a goal that 25% of our annual spend be with small businesses. Efforts are already underway to determine how this data will be evaluated and reported and it is anticipated the data analysis will be performed by County staff. Therefore, we do not intend on procuring any data-driven platforms at this time.

Two key changes would make a big difference, one process and the other the search tool. The first change would be to ensure documents, especially contracts, were filed and made available more timely. I recall searching for contracts many weeks after they were awarded, and could not locate them. The other change relates to improving the search functionality of the Documentum interface. It can be very frustrating to use the top half of the query form, and in almost every visit, I resort to the keyword search. If these two issues were topics you would consider adding to the current round of updates, I believe each would dramatically improve the ability for potential suppliers and vendors, and the people helping them, to be more effective.
