The Santee Library: 43 Years of Imagination and Inspiration by Rachel Heller
My first trip to The Santee Library was when I was eight years old. I remember falling in love with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. These books lead me to be the voracious reader of books that I am today. In fact, reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory inspired me to write a play based on it in college. In addition, to inspiring me in my youth. The library gave me a great sense of community with the its bookclubs. Due to the library's bookclubs, I read many books that were out of my comfort zone, such as The Wager and The Zookeeper's Wife. In addition, I have made many friends because of the library's bookclubs. Therefore, the library has fostered my imagination and inspiration for 43 years though reading books and meeting new people.
