Zoning ordinances specify where activities can take place in certain zones or areas. The County is working to make its Zoning Ordinance more clear and efficient. It is doing so by refining processes and clarifying ambiguities. These efforts currently focus on two key permitting areas:
Live music at boutique wineries
Trailers used for temporary housing by healthcare workers (healthcare trailers)
For details on Healthcare Trailers, please click here. Read on for details on Music at Boutique Wineries.
Earlier this year, the Winery project was presented to the Board.
In response to significant community feedback, the Board of Supervisors asked staff to explore new options. They want to see if boutique wineries in agricultural zones can be allowed to host live, amplified music on their premises.
The new standards should address several key areas:
Limits on the hours when live music can occur
Guidelines on the types of amplification allowed
The possibility of hosting more than six community events per year
We are working on creating a pathway that supports increased live music while also setting reasonable standards. These standards will aim to reduce noise impacts and ensure that the activities are compatible with the surrounding areas.
Your input is vital to ensuring these amendments meet the needs of our diverse community. We encourage you to attend, share your feedback, and be part of shaping these important updates.
