Luz AlejosRDF Group Program Manager
Luz Alejos joins the Office of Sustainability and Environmental Justice (OSEJ) as Group Program Manager for the Regional Decarbonization Framework (RDF).
In this role, Luz supports close collaboration with communities and other jurisdictions, uplifting community-led decarbonization priorities, developing tools to tell stories and promote environmental justice work, and tailoring sustainability solutions to our region’s unique cultures and places.
She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience that aligns well with OSEJ and RDF efforts. Luz previously served as a Program Director with the Environmental Leadership Program where she trained, mentored, and coached community facilitators, accessibility liaisons, and equity processors, and designed virtual and in-person conservation and environmental justice programming aligned with community input. She was also a founding member/owner of Inecui, a WOC cooperative farm, where she collectively developed business plans, planting plans, marketing, and pricing for the farm’s sustainability. Additionally, she co-founded Imaginal Cells Collective where she collaborates with teams and organizations to evaluate and redesign organizational processes and structures and facilitate learning experiences that focus on strengthening human connections while deepening an understanding of liberatory, values-aligned leadership structures. Luz has over fifteen years of facilitation, curriculum design, and resource sharing experience. She possesses an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a focus on Applied Learning Development.
Luz grew up in Von Ormy, a small town south of San Antonio, Texas, where she had mostly cows and nopal as neighbors. She loves reading and gardening. In her garden you will currently find tulsi, cempasúchil, alpine strawberries, and lemon balm. She also has some pretty cool beans on the way too! Outside of work, you’ll most likely find her at Libelula Books, Mnemonic Coffee, or cooking.
