State law states that a multifamily development “contains two or more residential units”. According to the California Department of Housing and Community Development, a new single-family development and an attached accessory dwelling unit when built together are considered multifamily and are eligible for streamlining under SB 35. An applicant would still need to meet all eligibility requirements to streamline their project. These eligible parcels are distinguished by a pink color. The blue parcels are eligible for streamlining under State law, where three or more units can be built under current Zoning. This map has been updated to reflect recent State laws in effect as of March 2024.
