When disasters strike—like a wildfire, flood, or earthquake—San Diego County needs a clear plan to keep people safe and protect homes and property. The Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (Plan) is that guide. It identifies hazards and risks that could affect our communities and ways we can reduce the impacts of disasters.

We are updating the Plan in 2026 and 2027, and your feedback is very important. It helps make sure the Plan reflects changes to both the hazards threatening San Diego County, as well as the programs in place to minimize or eliminate those hazards.

The Plan is updated every five years to include current hazards, risks, and potential actions to reduce the impact of those hazards.

Why Community Feedback Matters:
By participating in this process, you help:

  • Identify concerns about hazards

  • Shape and prioritize mitigation actions

  • Ensure your community is represented in hazard mitigation planning

How You Can Participate:

  • Share your feedback

  • Review and comment on the draft plan

  • Suggest improvements

  • Join upcoming engagement opportunities

  • Ask questions
