The County is dedicated to providing safe, affordable, and accessible housing options. State law requires all local governments to plan for enough housing to meet the needs of everyone in the community, no matter their income level. The County meets this requirement by adopting a housing plan known as a Housing Element, which is part of the General Plan. The General Plan serves as the County’s blueprint for growth and development.

Every year, the County meets state reporting requirements by presenting the General Plan and Housing Element Annual Progress Report (GP APR). The GP APR  keeps the public informed of the impact of the County’s housing programs and initiatives. It is a summary of housing and land use actions from the prior calendar year in the unincorporated County.

Topics in the report include:

  • How much housing is being developed in the unincorporated County, as measured by discretionary applications and permits issued and ready for move-in,

  • The County’s progress towards affordable housing, or RHNA, goals, and

  • Programs that were implemented to support housing.

We value your feedback and invite you to share your thoughts on how you’d like to hear about the GP APR. Your input will inform how we share the report this year, and in years to come.
