Moving to North County (Encinitas)

We recently moved from Canada, where there is a strong culture of support for public services, and we’ve been happy to see a similar commitment here through the many public library branches across different cities—several of which we’ve had the chance to visit. We’ve participated in a variety of library programs, including reading with dogs, seasonal reading challenges, and a drumming circle. Through these experiences, the library has helped us feel more connected to our community and to the city we now call home.

Choosing books from the Library is our fav family activity

My name is Destiny McMillen and we most often go to the San Diego library in La Mesa on Allison. Our family of 5 love coming to the library to pick out our books for the week. We like picking books from all different categories such as books about nature, science, history, social justice, fantasy, and instructional books. My 8 year old loves books about folklore from different cultures and graphic novel. My 5 year old special needs child loves picking books with textures and flaps.
