Energy Access, Resilience, and Capacity Study
The County is committed to advancing fair energy access and supporting a clean energy future. Over the next 25 years, our region is projected to use twice as much energy as we do today. To keep up with this higher energy demand, the region needs to produce more clean, safe, renewable, and zero carbon emissions energy so we can reach our 100% renewable energy goal by 2030.
The Energy Access, Resilience, and Capacity (Energy ARC) Study is an effort to understand how much of our region's energy could be generated and used or stored directly in the communities that need it.
Specifically, the Energy ARC Study will:
Analyze the current and future capacity for infill renewable energy (generation and storage) in the San Diego region
Model the potential costs and benefits of these options for residents and businesses
Identify opportunities to meet the renewable energy needs of the region that also meet the priorities of the communities we serve
Why Community Feedback Matters:
Each community has different energy needs and concerns. These can include high energy costs, power outages or shutoffs, and the desire to have your voices represented in energy decisions. Your input will help:
Identify barriers to local energy access
Provide an understanding of energy characteristics that matter most to your community
Strengthen regional coordination to deliver energy
Identify opportunities to empower communities to make your own energy choices
