The County is committed to helping communities prepare for and recover after a disaster. The County turns to multiple resources to help serve residents and organizations. Often, this includes contracting with outside vendors. Contractors may provide:

  • Community preparedness support such as training

  • Helping the community recover after a disaster, such as providing temporary food and shelter

The County is gathering community feedback to improve its emergency contracts. This feedback will inform emergency contractsincluding qualification requirements and the types of work contractors will do to better serve communities across the region.

Background

The County Office of Emergency Services (OES) coordinates the overall county response to disasters. OES handles:

  • Alerting and notifying agencies during a disaster

  • Coordinating all agencies that respond

  • Ensuring resources are available and used in times of a disaster

  • Developing plans and procedures for response to and recovery from disasters
