Planning Commission Hearing - Socially Equitable Cannabis Program

On April 10, 2026, the Planning Commission recommended that the Board of Supervisors adopt the Socially Equitable Cannabis Program (SECP). The Commission recommended that the SECP exclude outdoor cultivation, implement a 1,000 ft buffer from cannabis facilities to schools, daycares, youth centers, parks, trails, and places of worship, and allow educational events at cannabis facilities.

This recommendation is a variation of Project Alternative 4 from the Final Program Environmental Impact Report.

The Commission's recommendation is not the final determination on the SECP. In summer 2026, the Board of Supervisors will consider whether to adopt the SECP. The Board may consider the proposed project, any of the project alternatives within the Final Program Environmental Impact Report, as well as the Commission's recommendation.
