Transboundary pollution is the pollution that originates in one country but is able to cause damage in another country’s environment, by crossing borders through pathways like water or air.  

The sewage flows enter the United States through the Tijuana River.

Communities in the area are severely impacted by the health, economic, and environmental repercussions of the cross-border sewage flows. Some San Diego County beaches have been closed for over 550 consecutive days due to poor water quality.

Information from this survey will be used to guide future actions by the County and the Board of Supervisors.
