Why did the County set up an ad-hoc subcommittee on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and transformative solutions?

    The County set up the subcommittee to better understand and leverage transformative technologies including, but not limited to, AI to make County services more responsive, efficient, and accessible to all. 

    Who is on the subcommitte?

    The Board appointed Chairwoman Vargas and Supervisor Anderson to serve on the subcommittee. 

    What will the subcommittee do?

    The subcommittee will:

    • Receive and review information from County staff and others on:
      • County information technology and telecommunication systems and services, including the use of AI
      • Strategies for monitoring and managing advances in transformative technologies and AI
    • Review new technology procurements and data initiatives that involve an AI system
    • Review the governance for proactively managing and monitoring new AI advancements
    • Develop recommendations and actions on AI-related policies
    • Provide input to the Chief Administrative Officer on how the County can meet its current and future information technology and telecommunication needs

    When will the subcommittee meet?

    Three meetings of the subcommittee are expected to take place. The first is scheduled for Oct. 16, 2024. Dates for the additional meetings will be added to this site and shared with the public through various communications as they become available.

    What if I cannot attend a meeting?

    Subcommittee meetings will be streamed live on the County’s YouTube channel and broadcast on the County’s TV station.
