Zoning ordinances specify where activities can take place in certain zones or areas. The County is working to make its Zoning Ordinance more clear and efficient. It is doing so by refining processes and clarifying ambiguities. These efforts currently focus on two key permitting areas:
Live music at boutique wineries
Trailers used for temporary housing by healthcare workers (healthcare trailers)
For details on the live music at boutique wineries, please click here. Read on for details on healthcare trailers.
In the unincorporated areas of the county, a trailer coach also called a “travel trailer” or “camper trailer,” can be used as a temporary living space. To qualify, it needs to meet certain criteria.
Exist on properties with an existing, permanent single-family home
Be used by a healthcare professional or relative caring for a resident in the home
Residents need permits from the County to put a "healthcare trailer" on their property.
The County is simplifying the permitting process. Specifically, it is exploring options to extend the permit period from one to five years. This will help reduce the administrative burden on persons with permanent disabilities.
Your input is vital to ensuring these amendments meet the needs of our diverse community. We encourage you to be a part of shaping these important updates.
