What is the Community Needs Assessment?

The Community Needs Assessment is a survey that is conducted every five years by the County's Department of Parks and Recreation. It helps us understand how well we are meeting the community’s recreational needs and identify areas for improvement.

What does the Community Needs Assessment measure?

    The Assessment measures:

    • How participants currently use our parks and facilities.
    • What prevents participants from using our parks and facilities.
    • How well our parks, programs, and facilities meet participants' household needs.
    • What types of programs and park features participants want prioritized.
    • How well our parks and programs are communicated to participants.

How will the Assessment results be used?

The results will guide and inform planning efforts for future parks, facilities, and programs to ensure they align with community needs and usage.

When will the Assessment results be shared?

The results will be shared in Fall 2025.

How does the Assessment relate to the County Parks Master Plan?

The Assessment is an integral part of the Parks Master Plan and is identified specifically in Chapter 5, Community Input. The Assessment informs how the Parks Master Plan is implemented and how opportunities identified in the Plan can be prioritized.
