The County's Aging & Independence Services (AIS) works to ensure that our communities are places where older adults, caregivers, and persons living with disabilities can thrive. As a part of this work, AIS develops and administers a range of programs and services to support these communities.

Every four years, AIS outlines how the programs and services will be funded in accordance with the Older Americans Act. The outline is captured in a document known as the 'Area Plan.'

Currently, AIS is working on the Area Plan for 2024-28. Community feedback is vital to ensuring the Area Plan effectively guides the delivery of programs and services to San Diego County's diverse older adult population. Feedback gathered through this process will inform the Area Plan and other efforts including the Aging Roadmap, the County's comprehensive framework for aging services.
