Why is the County of San Diego engaging online?
It is not always possible to attend a public meeting, open house, or other engagement event. With Engage San Diego County, you can learn about and contribute to projects online. This lets you engage at a time and pace that is most convenient for you.
Why do I have to register to provide my comments?
Registration is not required to access the site and review project information. Registration is necessary for many of the more interactive engagement opportunities. We ask you to register on the site to attribute participation to individuals. This allows us to:

The County protects your privacy. We will only reach out to you to invite you to participate in consultations or send you updates. Email addresses are never distributed to any third party or used for any other purpose.

Can I use the site anonymously?
When you register, you will create a username and password associated with your email. Your comments will show the username. You can comment anonymously through a username of your choice.
How do I participate on the site?
Each project is unique. The options to review project information and provide your input and feedback may differ between projects. Project information may be provided in documents, presentations, or videos. You may participate in projects through discussion forums, quick polls, or surveys.

What happens to my feedback/comments/questions?
What you share on this site will inform the development of projects, programs, and policies. We may also use it to gain insight into community views and opinions.
The County will consider all feedback given during consultation. Please note, not all suggestions will affect the project or be adopted as proposed.

What rules does the County have around etiquette and moderation on the site?
We want to keep the site positive. You may not agree with all comments you see on the site. We ask that you respect people’s experiences, perspectives, and opinions shared.
Bang the Table (Granicus), the software provider, moderates all public comments independent of the County of San Diego. They moderate them 24 hours a day seven days a week. The moderators do not edit or alter any comments. They will immediately remove comments they consider off-topic, offensive, or malicious. They will send a notification by email to the person whose comment they removed.
